On the Jan van Schaffelaarplantsoen 239 apartments will be built. Together the tender team, which consisted of Tangram Architecs, Van Rossum BV, Urban Sync and Hiensch developed a plan with a strong focus on space, water and green areas. A specific aspect of the plan is the especially well developed Energy performance. The residents are allowed to sell back any excess unused energy to the national grid, something, which to date, has not been achieved in a city centre apartment building.
This is a new and innovative move, thanks to an accumulation of measures taken where solar cell power played a significant role including a host of other elements.
The project will be realised in close consultation with local residents, who could potentially benefit from the completion of the urban space and gardens, with the trees that provide natural shade and protection from the sun.
